Configuring the Chromeleon Server
Creating Access Control for Servers and Timebases
Chromeleon allows you to restrict access to Datasources, directories, and sequences, as well as to servers and timebases. (For more information, refer to Software Installation and Communication Access Control and How to: Working with Files, Databases, and Networks Locking Datasources, Directories, and Sequences.)
To change the server settings, double-click the server name (or select Properties on the context menu).
To change the timebase settings, double-click the timebase name (or select Properties on the context menu).
Note:
The server and timebase can be accessed independently of each other. However, a timebase can only have the rights of the associated server; that is, all operations prohibited on the server are automatically prohibited for the timebase.
On the Access Control tab page, select the Access Groups that should receive access to the server or the timebase from the List of All Groups list box. Click <<Add<< to move the selected groups to the Access Groups list. Each user who is a member of one of the Access Groups can access the server or the timebase. (Keep in mind that the user has to have the associated control privilege, nevertheless.)
For the reverse action, select one or more access groups from the Access Groups list and click >>Remove>>. The groups are moved to the List of All Groups list box. The members of these groups are no longer able to access the server or the timebase.
The Allow Remote… section provides options for controlling remote operation, i.e., options for network access to a server or a timebase from a different PC. They apply exclusively to access via a network connection.
Select the Monitoring check box to allow other users to monitor the server or timebase.
Select the Control check box to allow other users to control the server or a specific timebase.
Select the Data Acquisition check box to allow other users to start Data Acquisition for a specific timebase.
Select the Batch Control check box to allow other users to start the Batch for a specific timebase.
Note:
An option can be enabled for a timebase only if the corresponding operation is permitted for the associated server!
